This is my second pregnancy. So that basically makes me a pro at this whole baby thing, right?! Hah! Hardly. I had Lincoln four years ago! A lot has changed in four years! Sure, there are some items I used with Lincoln that I absolutely plan on utilizing with baby #2. But, there are also a lot of new essentials that I plan to use! Heck, I don’t even think Aden & Anais blankets existed when Lincoln was born!
Here are a few essentials we are planning to use with baby brother.
Baby Swing — The swing was a lifesaver when Lincoln was a baby. It was one of the guaranteed places he would be happy. He also took many, many naps in his swing.
Aden & Anais Swaddle Blankets — If these were around when Lincoln was a baby, maybe he would have actually liked being swaddled. These blankets are huge AND breathable! Not to mention how incredibly soft they are. Heck, I want to be swaddled in one of these!
Car Seat — Because let’s face it, you’re not leaving that hospital without one!
SwaddleMe Blankets — These look like fool proof swaddling! They look perfect for when baby is itty bitty…which in my case isn’t too long! But I do plan on using them!!
Sound Machine — -I really like this one we recently purchased. This particular one has 3 natural sounds, 3 lullabies, and will play for up to 60 minutes. It also comes with 3 image discs that can project onto the wall or ceiling! It wasn’t even $20, and I’ve already played around with it a bit. So far, I’m quite impressed!
Fisher Price Soothe & Glow Seahorse — This was like baby crack for Lincoln. He would just stare at the glowing tummy on the seahorse, and drift off to sleep. I was planning on reusing Lincoln’s seahorse, but it is SO worn! I think little Avery will be getting his own!
MAM Pacifiers — Lincoln was one of those babies that would take any pacifier. However, these were hands down my personal favorite. I love the little newborn ones that are tiny and don’t take up their entire face. They seem to grow with your baby, which is a very nice feature.
Baby Carrier — I’m planning on getting a Beco Gemini soft structured carrier. I have heard nothing but good things about these carriers. Also? Supposedly they fit people who are on the shorter side better! Huge plus for me!!
Rock n’ Play Sleeper — Another item that didn’t exist when Lincoln was a baby! Crazy how much changes in just 4 years time. Anyways, I have not heard of a baby who does NOT like this. I think it would have been great for when Lincoln was a newborn. I swear he had reflux but was never diagnosed with it. Poor baby. Hopefully Avery will sleep well in this ๐
Gerber Diapers — To use as burp cloths. I had several adorable SMALL burp cloths that I received for Lincoln. However, that’s all they were really. Small and cute. They did nothing to help absorb the massive spit up that came out of him. Then I discovered these, and they were perfect! Sure they’re not exactly cute, but they do the job!!
Tommee Tippee Bottles — These are the bottles we are planning on using with Avery. Of course that could change if he doesn’t take well to them. But for now, this is the plan.
Rectal Thermometer — I know a lot of people are nervous about using these, especially with a tiny baby. However, they really are the best way to get an accurate temperature reading with a newborn. And I promise, it’s not that hard, and you get used to it.
What are some of your must have new baby essentials? I know there are probably dozens more, but I didn’t want this post to be too long ๐
Disclosure: Affiliate links are used in this post, however, I either have, or plan on purchasing each of these items for baby #2!
