We recently returned from a wonderful family vacation at Hersheypark. Lincoln has been on numerous vacations, however, most of them are by airplane. He was a bit confused and didn't understand why we weren't going to the airport. So, he learned a new word...."ROAD TRIP!!!"
The drive from Connecticut to Hershey, Pennsylvania was just under 4 hours. Lincoln was a rockstar, as he always is in the car. He was very excited when we pulled into our resort, The Hershey Lodge. He immediately exclaimed, "Mom, I wanna go here!!"
From the moment we stepped into the Hershey Lodge, it was like we entered some magical chocolate world -- which I suppose we did! Upon check-in, we were given a Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar for each person. And when we arrived to our room....there was MORE CHOCOLATE waiting for us!! Lincoln was certainly in heaven -- and on a bit of a sugar high ;)
There was so much to do and see at The Hershey Lodge, that I think we could have spent an entire day just at the resort!
During our stay, we visited Hershey's Chocolate World. There is seriously SO much to do there. It is very easy to spend an entire day. There are several attractions that we participated in. The 4D movie, the trolley tour, chocolate tasting, and everyone's favorite -- create your own candy bar!!
There was also the Great American Chocolate Tour Ride, where we learned the secret behind what makes Hershey's chocolate so incredibly tasty..."It's the milk chocolate," of course!
Did I mention you get free chocolate samples at all of these attractions? Because you do! And while a sample might not sound like a lot, when you get them at every attraction, it certainly adds up!!
There is also a huge shopping area that includes a large selection of souvenirs, and of course Hershey's chocolate -- as well as all the other varieties of candy they offer.
The next day we headed out to Hersheypark. Hersheypark boasts over 65 rides, including 11 roller coasters, and over 20 kiddie rides!
The Boardwalk at Hersheypark features 9 unique water attractions, as well as two water flume rides -- even one for the little ones!
Lincoln was in awe over the large selection of rides. It seems like most parks nowadays primarily feature the thrilling rides. These are great and all, but sometimes the little ones are just left with a handful of rides. I don't know about you, but as a parent, I hate paying full admission to a theme park where my son can only ride the same 5 rides again and again.
Hersheypark really goes above and beyond and offers something for everyone! Sure there's plenty of thrill rides, but there's equally an endless amount of attractions for the little ones! Here were some of Lincoln's favorites...
Hands down, his favorite ride was Tiny Timbers -- a small scale log flume. He rode that twice, and is still talking about it!
We really enjoyed our vacation to Hersheypark, and definitely plan on visiting again in the future. We all agree that you can easily spend two days at the park -- something to remember for next time!
If you're looking for a sweet family vacation, make sure you consider Hersheypark! You won't be disappointed!!
Disclosure: I received one nights stay free of charge at The Hershey Lodge, as well as complimentary tickets to Hersheypark, and the attractions at Hershey's Chocolate World, in exchange for this review. All opinions stated are my own.
