Lincoln's Parent/Teacher Conference

First of all, I cannot believe I'm writing that post title for a THREE YEAR OLD!!! Doesn't it just sound crazy?!

Earlier this week, we had our first ever parent/teacher conference.  I was really looking forward to it, because although Lincoln has only been in preschool for two months, I was anxious to hear how he's doing.  I know that I have noticed huge improvements with his speech at home, but I wanted to know what they thought.

We met with both his teacher and his speech therapist.  They perfectly nailed Lincoln's personality.  His teachers said you know when he's happy....and you know when he's not!  So incredibly true!  Lincoln will clearly let you know how he's feeling, even if he can't use the words to do so.  He is a very independent little boy, and extremely strong-willed.

He is getting along well with the other children, and is very sweet with them.  He loves music (no surprise there), and is participating in circle time.  He likes to be active, and if they're learning something he's interested in, he is completely immersed in the lesson.  However, he is still a three year old.  He is working on being patient and waiting his turn.  In the classroom, they were quite pleased with how he had adjusted in just two months.

Now onto the speech.  This was really the big part for us, because it's really the reason Lincoln is in this preschool.  He needs some help with his speech, and that's okay.

His speech therapist is just about the sweetest woman ever.  She told us about the exercises she works on with Lincoln, and she really makes sure they're interesting and fun for him.  She showed us some exercises we can work on home with him.  Although that yes, Lincoln has made a huge improvement in his speech since November, he still has a lot of catching up to do.  It will take a lot of work, but I am confident we will get there.  The progress he has already made is incredible.  His teachers are amazing.  I can see how much they care about my little boy, and that really makes me feel comfortable.

In just two short months, my little boy is now saying, "love you" to me.  He is starting to form small sentences.  He is trying so hard to talk, and I love how proud he is of himself when he says something new.  I am so thankful for these amazing teachers, and for their support in helping my son grow.

We still have a lot of work, but we're getting there, day by day.  We will get there.
