Holiday Photo Attire

It's that time of the year again.  Time for me to obsess what our family is going to wear for holiday photos!

This year I may have got a little more into it than usual, and bought all of us new outfits.  Well, new sweaters, anyways.

I don't typically go for traditional red and green attire for holiday photos.  This year I was able to find our coordinating look at Target, no less!

The grey sweater for myself, I'm going to pair with a long sleeved black v-neck underneath.

Do you take holiday photos?  I personally love them specifically for Christmas cards.

Also, today is the last day to vote for me to make the Top 25 Family Blogs, if you could please send a vote my way, that would be so wonderful!  Just click the icon below, and scroll down until you see "The Momma Diaries," & then click vote!  :)

Fresh Produce - Review

Fresh Produce is an innovative clothing company for women and children.  They are mostly known for their vibrant colored and stylish, yet comfortable clothing.

Fresh Produce prides itself in creating "feel-good" clothing, that women will want to wear every day!

Something I love about Fresh Produce, and I know all women will love this feature, is they only use quality fabrics which are made to flatter your body.  They never cling or restrict!

Since having Lincoln, let's just say that my body is certainly not the same.  Especially in the tummy area.  There really is nothing worse than fabrics that hug that delightful area of your body, and draw attention to that wonderful "post baby pouch."  Fresh Produce certainly seems to have taken this into consideration when designing their clothing.

Aside from these features, all clothes are primarily made in the USA.  It seems to be so hard to find USA based companies today, and I don't know about you, but I love supporting USA companies.

And, did I mention how stylish their clothing is....???

From dresses, to tops, sweaters, to tunics, and pants, Fresh Produce has something for everyone!

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to review the Hoodie in Classic Stripe, in the color twilight blue

I LOVE the style of this top.  It is casual enough, yet stylish at the same time!  Perfect for a Momma on the go, like myself!  I have already worn the shirt a handful of times, and it's held up great.  The color hasn't faded in the least, and it hasn't shrunk!  I have gotten several compliments on this top, and I even wore it last week at Lincoln's birthday party!

Although this isn't the greatest photo of me in the top, I still wanted to share it...

Also?  When we were in Florida last month at Universal Studios Citywalk, there was an actual Fresh Produce clothing store there!  It was fun to actually walk around the shop that I had previously been browsing online. I was way excited, and of course snapped a photo :)

If you're looking for a new shop to check out, make sure you visit Fresh Produce!  You can connect with them on facebook, twitter, pinterest, and their blog!

I received a complimentary item, in return for this review.  However, all opinions stated are my own.

Lincoln's 3rd Birthday Bash!

Last weekend we celebrated Lincoln's third birthday with our family and friends.  Lincoln was very excited that all these people were there to see him!  He greeted each of his guests at the door with a warm welcome, and a giant hug.

We decided on a Jake and the Neverland Pirates theme this year.  And, I think it was quite the success!

My friend made these super cute pirate cupcakes...

Lincoln couldn't wait to dive in!  He loved everyone singing Happy Birthday to him.  He had the biggest smile on his face :)

After the yummy cupcakes, itw as time for presents!  Lincoln is a true kid, and was tearing into those gifts as fast as he could....and handed me the card!

He got lots of new things and had a great day celebrating with everyone.

Once everyone left the party, Lincoln went into his bedroom and crashed!  Seriously.  I couldn't believe it!  My son who sleeps with me each and every night, slept in his own bed!

Three Years Old

My sweet boy Lincoln,

Today at 8:43am, you turn 3 years old.

It seems crazy to me that it's been three whole years already.  Yet, at the same time, I cannot remember what my life was like without you.

This past year has certainly had its challenges.  But without those challenges, you wouldn't have grown into the amazing little boy that you are today.

You are a determined, strong-willed, sweet, sweet boy.  You clearly let the world know your likes and dislikes.  I don't consider that a bad thing at all.  At just three years old, you know what you want, and there's nothing wrong with that.  I hope you always have that determination to strive for all of your goals in life.

You have such a sense of happiness in life.  You are so innocent and carefree. I love to look at the world through your eyes.  Your smile is infectious. And you have already learned how to speak with those big brown eyes.  I hope you always have this incredible sense of wonder throughout life.  I hope you always have this happy spirit.  It amazes me to see what an incredible little boy you have already become.

You are a Momma's boy, and nothing makes me happier.  I have always wanted a son.  A sweet boy.  I just never imagined I would be blessed with you.  My sweet little Lincoln.  You fill my heart with so much love each and every day.  As much as you've grown up these past three years, you are still my baby boy.  You still curl up on my lap, wrap your arms around my neck, and rest your head on my shoulder.  And when you're sleeping, I can still see that sweet tiny face that was first placed in my arms three years ago.

I hope you know how proud I am of you, and how proud I am to be your Mommy.  There is nothing or no one in the world that makes me happier than you.

Happy Third Birthday, my sweet boy, Lincoln.  I can't wait to see what this next year will bring!

Love you forever,

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's no joke I've been through a bit much lately.  However, I would like to reflect on all the things I have to be thankful for this year.

First and foremost, my Dad received his liver transplant.  He's 8 months post surgery, and doing great.  As much of a rollercoaster ride it's been, I'm so thankful for the outcome, and to have my Dad back.

I am so thankful my aunt met a great man, who makes her happy.  She has been through her share of struggles for many years, including a bout with cancer.  It was so amazing to celebrate her wedding day.

I am thankful that my BFF gave birth to her two beautiful twin boys in September.  Jacob & Joshua.  Two perfect little miracles.  She certainly waited a long time for her sons, and I'm so happy they are finally here!

Despite the recent events of my pregnancy.  I am thankful I have a doctor who is compassionate and treats his patients in a way that makes them feel like they're "more than just patients."  He wasn't too quick to give up, until there was really nothing else left to hope for.  I am thankful to be in his care, and look forward to going through my next pregnancy with him.

I am thankful for the loving support my parents and brother give to me on a daily basis.  Living 2 1/2 hours away from them is hard, but we make it work, and we're always there for each other.

My husband.  He has held my hand and been by my side through so much this past year.  I don't know where I would be without his love.

And finally, my sweet boy Lincoln.  My son.  My heart.  I am so thankful to be his Momma.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.  What are you thankful for this year?

Personal Creations - Review

Personal Creations has been a long time favorite of mine for ordering adorable personalized Christmas ornaments.  I remember for Lincoln's first Christmas, we ordered my Mom a special "Grammy" ornament.  She doesn't even put it on her tree.  It's displayed in her house, everyday! That's how much she adores that ornament.

I also love their family Christmas ornaments.  They have a variety of different themes, suited to best fit your family.  And, they make great gifts!

personalized christmas ornaments

I recently ordered Evy and Oliver, my dog and cat, personalized Christmas stockings.  Call me crazy, but they're very important members of our family, and I didn't want them to feel left out.  I can't wait to receive them, although I already know they quality from Personal Creations will be amazing!

And because my sweet Lincoln is starting PRESCHOOL in just one week [there will be a whole separate post about this], I ordered him a personalized backpack!  I am ridiculously excited about this one.

Personalized gifts add a special touch, and Personal Creations delivers a variety or products that will be sure to please everyone on your shopping list!  Make sure you check them out this Holiday season!!

I was given the opportunity to receive complimentary products, in return for this review.  However, all opinions stated are my own.

This is just a quick follow-up from my post the other day.  I wanted to thank you for all your support and kind words, and wanted to update you.

I went in this morning to see if there was anything inside the sac, and there wasn't.  My HCG levels indicated a miscarriage.

I was given the option to have a D&C, or take pills called Cytotec, which would bring the inevitable on.

I chose the pills.  I'm currently 3 hours in after taking them.  So far I just have some cramping, no bleeding yet.  I'm hoping they just do what they're supposed to do so I can finally be done with this horrible nightmare.

I'm sorry this update isn't longer and more in depth, but I just don't have it in me right now.

Also, just a reminder to please keep voting!  This ends on November 29th, and you can vote once per day.  I'd love to make the top 25 :)

Be prepared for the worst, and hope for the best.

First of all, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for your positive thoughts, prayers, vibes, facebook messages, and kind words, in regards to my post the other day.  Words really cannot express how thankful I am, to have your support.

Now.  Let me tell you what's going on with me.

On October 12th, I found out I was pregnant.  Jared and I were beyond thrilled.  We've been officially trying for baby #2 since June.  Based off my calculations, my estimated due date would be around June 21, 2013.  However, because I would be having another scheduled c-section, I would have the baby at 39 weeks, which would be June grandparents anniversary, and my grandfather's birthday.  Perfect!

I called my OB's office, and my first prenatal appointment was scheduled for November 6th.  I would be about 7 weeks pregnant at that time.

Because we were going to Florida for my aunts wedding, we told my parents and brother immediately, and a few other family members that would be traveling with us.  They were all thrilled!  My sweet boy Lincoln, was going to be a big brother!!

Before I knew it, November 6th had arrived, and it was time for our appointment!  I was a bunch of emotions... excited, anxious, nervous.  All to be expected, of course.

My OB practically bounced into the room with excitement.  He delivered Lincoln, and I actually ran into him at Target last March, where he asked me when we'd be trying for #2!  It was like a reunion.  Sounds a bid weird, perhaps, considering he's my OB and all, but he's really a great doctor.

Because he already knew my previous medical history, we could basically cut to the chase, and get started with the highlight of the visit.  The ultrasound!!!

Because I was estimated to be about 7 weeks, he had to do an internal ultrasound, which I was fully prepared for, and yes, as awkward as it seems, I think you eventually just get used to it.  Or maybe I'm just weird ;)

I grinned at my husband next to me, as we waited the anticipation of seeing our baby for the first time.

Then my doctor asked, "How sure are you of your dates?"

My heart sank.

I was more than sure of my dates.  I received my positive test on October 12th.  I knew at the very earliest I could be is 7 weeks.

He told me to get dressed, and he'd be back to chat.

I felt like I was going to throw up.

When he came back into the room, he pulled up a chair.  He said he'd like me to come back the following week for another ultrasound.  Right now the only thing visible, was a gestational sac, and at this point in pregnancy, they can normally see the fetal pole and detect a heartbeat.  He hoped that the following week, we would see the sac grow, and the fetal pole would be visible.

Okay.  I was still pregnant.  Nervous, indeed.  But, still pregnant.

That week was one of the longest weeks in my life.  I am a very optimistic person by nature, however, I think once you experience a miscarriage firsthand, you lose that carefree sense when you find out you're first pregnant.  You check the toilet paper for blood each time you wipe.  You do this the entire 9 months you're pregnant.  When I first told my parents, the first thing out of my mouth was, "but it's REALLY early, so ..."

Going into my second appointment on Tuesday, I was exceptionally nervous.  Thankfully when my doctor came into the room, he immediately went for the ultrasound machine.  He noted that the gestational sac has grown, but I could clearly see there was still nothing inside.

He finished up his measurements and again told me to get dressed, and he'd be back.

I looked at my husband and just shook my head.

When my doctor arrived, he pulled up his chair.  He told me I could possibly have something called a blighted ovum.  Basically what this means, is while the gestational sac grows, there is no fetal development inside.

However.  He said because the sac did grow, and I am not showing any signs of miscarrying naturally, he'd like to perform another ultrasound the following Monday.  He also wanted to have my HCG levels checked that day, and for me to go again before my appointment on Monday, so he could compare the numbers.

I straight out asked him, "Is there any hope?  I received my positive test on October 12th.  I know that the very minimum pregnant I could be is 8 weeks."

My doctor placed his head in his hands.  That's something you don't expect to see.  My doctor was showing emotion and compassion towards me, his patient.  I could genuinely see the care and concern in his eyes.

I apologized for asking that question, but I just didn't understand scientifically speaking, how there was even a possibility.

He told me that, yes, while there is normally something to see at this stage of pregnancy, sometimes medicine is a tricky thing, and there are no explanations as to why something happens the way it does.  He said he has witnessed miracles happen firsthand.  He said he has had cases exactly like mine where there should very well be a baby there, and then the next week, there's a heartbeat.  He said he likes to give each and every pregnancy a chance, because sometimes, that's all that is needed.  He doesn't believe in ending things before he 100% believes they are not viable.

He told me to be prepared for the worst, and hope for the best.

He scheduled me an appointment for first thing Monday morning at 8am.  By that time, based on the ultrasound, and my HCG levels, we should have an answer.

So now, we wait.  The unknown is the hardest part.

While I know I should stay far away from google, I found this website the other day.  The site has tons of stories just like mine, where there is a positive outcome.

While I know the odds are not in my favor, these stories give me hope.  My doctor not giving up, gives me hope.  Right now those are the things I need to hang on to.

But in all reality, all I can do is wait.  And pray for a miracle.

Yo Ho, Let's Go!

Umm, guys?  A certain little boy is about to turn three years old.  We just won't be mentioning any names, 'k?

I mean seriously.  HOW is it even possible that my sweet boy is about to turn three years old?!?!

I just cannot even fathom the reality!

Despite my denial, it's happening, and soon.  Which of course means, it's party planning time!

For whatever reason, I thought I would have tons of time to party plan when we got home from Florida.  WHY I thought that, I have no idea, because it couldn't be more far from the truth!

Lincoln's birthday is the 23rd of November, however, that happens to be Black Friday this year, so we're having his party the weekend before.  Which just means even less time to plan!

Originally I was planning a "Planes, Trains, & Automobiles" theme.  I started pinning stuff like crazy on Pinterest.  Lots & lots of cute stuff.

And then?

I looked at my sweet boy playing with his new talking Bucky pirate ship.  I pulled up a Jake and the Neverland Pirates invite on etsy.  I showed it to Lincoln.  His response??

"Mom-Mom, Hook! Jake! A bird!!"

I was sold.  We are going to have a Jake & the Neverland Pirates birthday bash!

The invites have been all mailed out, and we're just finalizing the final party preparations!  Here is a little sneak peak of what's to come...

Freaking adorable, right?!

I can't wait to see my little boys face light up when the house is all decked out with decorations!  He's going to be so incredibly excited!

If you're new to my blog, you can check out Lincoln's 2nd birthday bash, and his 1st birthday bash. It's so crazy to look back and see how much he's grown up in [almost] three years!!

Legoland Florida - Review

We all know Florida is very well-known for their theme parks.  In October 2011, Florida opened a brand new theme park, Legoland

Legoland is a theme park geared for children between the ages of 2-12.  I just knew this would be a great park to visit with Lincoln!

During our recent trip to Florida, we drove the one hour from our condo, to check it out...

Lincoln was impressed with Legoland immediately.  One of his favorite areas to play in, was DUPLO Village.  We all know that DUPLO blocks are geared for tiny hands.  Well, this was a play area set up just like the DUPLO blocks.  He had so much fun exploring!!

Because of the ages Legoland is geared for, there were and endless amount of rides that Lincoln was able to go on!  He especially enjoyed the helicopter ride with his Daddy.

toddler rides

Of course, being at Legoland, you see many things made out of....LEGOS!  There were so many cool things, however, my two favorite were probably the Albert Einstein face, and this Ford Explorer. [I didn't get the front of the Explorer, because there were people there that weren't moving].

albert einstein, ford

Have you ever seen a DOUBLE carousel???  Well, now you have!

double carousel

Lincoln loved the carousel ride.  In fact, he rode it twice!!

There were a bunch of us that visited Legoland for the day.  We all had a blast watching Lincoln see new things!

family photos

Lincoln's favorite part of Legoland would absolutely be the Ford Jr. Driving School.  These tiny cars were like mini go carts for toddlers!  And?  It was so hysterical!!  Lincoln actually had a gas pedal to press, and he totally controlled the steering with the wheel.  He got stuck quite a few times, but there were people there to help him out :)

driving school

Lego Kingdoms was just one particular section of the park that we spent a lot of time in.  Lincoln was obsessed with all the pirate attire!  We ended up purchasing him the hat, AND the pink sword :)

We had a blast at Legoland.  If you have a child between the ages of 2-12, I would highly recommend visiting.  I just wish we had one more day to spend there, because the park is actually quite big!

Special thank you to the wonderful people at Legoland for providing our admission tickets free of charge.  All opinions expressed are of my own.
