Toddler Boys Fall Fashion

Are you a boy mom?  If you are, then surely you understand the lack of cute boy clothing.  Don't get me wrong.  It's out there.  It's just finding it.  Sometimes it seems like I have to search high and low to find something for my sweet Lincoln.

Is it just me, or was it easier when they were itty bitty.  Newborn boys clothing?  Loved it.  The baby blue colors with light gray accents, were just adorable on my sweet boy.  However, he's not so itty bitty anymore.  In fact, he's rapidly approaching 3 years old a bit sooner than I'd like to admit.

I thought I'd share with you a few of my favorite fall ensembles for toddler boys.  I apologize if you live in the south, because these outfits probably won't help you out in your 90+ degree weather.

outfit descriptions posted from top and left to right.

1.  Children's Place.  My favorite thing about the Children's Place is their jeans.  LOVE their jeans!  However, this outfit is just darling.  I love the layered look of the sweater.

2.  Gap.  We all know Gap clothing is a classic. I personally love this look for family portraits.  I could probably do without the hat, though.

3.  Crazy 8.  We don't have this store anywhere near us, but I love their website! I have been known to buy *almost* any clothing that says anything close to "handsome like Daddy."  So when I saw the "Daddy's Sidekick" shirt, I loved it!  I think it would be even more awesome if Jared had a shirt that said, "Lincoln's sidekick." :)

4.  Gymboree.  My favorite store ever.  While some might not like their matchy match styles, I just adore them.  I can always find something in Gymboree that I love for Lincoln.  This outfit immediately caught my eye.

5. This is another outfit from Crazy 8.  Lincoln is a bit obsessed with airplanes.  Which, of course, makes this outfit even more perfect!  And did you see the matching hat AND shoes?!

6. These are pajamas.  But I couldn't NOT include them.  My husband would probably pay a bajillion dollars for jammies with a police car on them.  They're from Gymboree

What do you think of my selections?  What is your impression on the selection of boys clothing?

I wasn't compensated at all for the mention of these stores.  I just wanted to share some cute outfits with you all :)

Thankful Thursday

This week, I am thankful that tomorrow evening my adorable niece and nephew are arriving from Tennessee to spend 5 days with us. We haven't seen them since last Christmas.  I cannot wait for Lincoln to play with his big cousins! Mason is now 9 years old, and Mallery is 7. Aren't they adorable :)

Thanks to all the flights I have taken to Florida over the past year, I have racked up some massive air miles.  I think we'll be planning a trip to Tennessee in January or February. We haven't been since Lincoln was 3 months old, so it's certainly long overdue.

And, it just so happens that today is my parents 32nd anniversary!  I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am that they are celebrating today in the Poconos!  If anyone deserves a vacation from this past year, it's certainly them.

What are you thankful for this week?

Potty Training

Oh potty training.  I have such a love/hate relationship with you.  Do you realize my first post on potty training was over a year ago?  Silly, silly me, for thinking it was going to be that easy.  Because, one year later, I found myself writing another "starting potty training" post.

So, where are we at?

Well.  It's been a slow course, to say the least.  But, Lincoln has been willing, so that's really half the battle.  While I tried to be all hardcore about potty training, and attempt to do a 3 day method, I very quickly realized that wasn't going to work for Lincoln.  My sweet boy is very stubborn strong willed.

We decided to take the potty training approach slowly, and basically let Lincoln take the lead.  We quickly found that he would eagerly pee in the potty before bathtime.  So. We did just that.  It became such a routine, that Lincoln would take his clothes off, and just go to the potty to pee, automatically before each bath.

Over the course of this past week, he has made even more improvement.  I really don't want to jinx myself, but I'm going to go all out and say Lincoln is 100% pee potty trained!  He has not had an accident in 5 days, and he is asking to go potty!!!

Although we still have him in a diaper during the night and for naptime, he surprisingly woke up last night at 1am to go potty!!

Now I know what you're all thinking.  "What about the dreaded poop?"  Well.  We're getting there.  He's only had one accident and that thankfully was at my in-laws house.  He seems to still be grasping the concept and being able to distinguish the urge, so to say.

But?  I am so proud of my boy!  And even better?  He is SO proud of himself!! I feel confident to say our days of buying diapers are almost done.

OH.  I forgot to mention.  Lincoln prefers to pee standing up.  Already.  And of course he has terrible aim.  Which of course he finds hysterical.  Boys.

Thankful Thursday

On Saturday, September 15th, at 9:30 & 9:31pm, my best friend gave birth to her two sweet baby boys.  Twins.  Jacob Thomas and Joshua Michael.

thankful thursday

If that isn't something to be thankful for, than I don't know what is.  Two sweet little boys.  Complete miracle babies.  I won't tell her story, because it's hers to share, but let's just say her and her husband have waited 8 years for these babies.

They are absolutely perfect.

These sweet boys are so loved already.  They have been loved before they were even conceived.

It may have taken them 8 years to get here, but boy were they worth the wait.  I think their Momma agrees...

Mommy & Jacob.  Joshua was snoozin'
So today I am thankful for my adorable nephews, and the joy that they have brought to so many people, especially their parents.

What are you thankful for this week?

Fall 2012 Consignment Sale

Let me start off by saying I never thought I'd enjoy the whole "consignment sale" thing.  I was really skeptical and the thought of putting my child in used clothing, from someone I didn't know, sort of grossed me out.  I'm being completely honest here.

Please don't think I have judged others who have shopped consignment sales, because I have not.  It was just something I didn't think was for me.

That being said.

For quite some time now, I've noticed a few bloggers writing about their latest and greatest consignment hauls.  And?  I was intrigued.

This past weekend, there was a consignment sale somewhat near my area, so I decided to see what the hype is all about.

Here's my haul...

Isn't this adorable?  It's a GIRAFFE growth chart!  Brand new, for $1.  Yep.  Pretty awesome.  And?  It matches our unconceived baby #2's nursery bedding perfectly!!

And for Lincoln...

What you see here, is 3 bottoms and 3 tops.  One of those being a GAP sweater for $5.   I was really hoping to get him a few more things, however, being a boy, and the size he is in, my selections were really limited.

I also found a 1983 Cabbage Patch doll new in the box for $10.  I bought it.  It seemed fairly cheap for a Cabbage Patch doll.  I'm going to look into selling it on ebay.

My grand total?  $29.63

There was absolutely more I could have purchased for Lincoln, but not in my price range.  I think it's especially important to know your brands and prices before you go to something like this.  For example, I saw many Gymboree graphic t shirts for $10.  Used.  I can pay LESS than this when they are having a sale, or by using coupons at the store.

Overall, I enjoyed the experience.  Would I go again?  Of course!  I think maybe I'd try to hit up the pre-sale next time.  Maybe I'd have better luck with boys clothing.  I am really interested in being a seller when we are done having kids.

Have you checked out your local fall consignment sale?  The one I visited was Just Between Friends.  They're nationwide!

Fall Crafts via Pinterest

I don't know about you, but there's something about the fall that brings out the craftiness in me.  While browsing the other day on Pinterest, I came up with my favorite 10 crafts to share!

handprint tree

1.  How cute is this handprint tree?  This is absolutely something I could do with Lincoln this year.
Would it be messy?  Absofreakinlutely!  But totally worth it!

2.  Sticking with the "tree theme," here is another fall craft idea for kids.  It seems as though the parent/teach drew a circle to encourage the child to only paint the leaves within it.  I think it's a great idea.  And I love the "falling leaves" from the tree!

3.  I think this is going to be a job for the hubs. The idea is to first carve, and then drill holes into the pumpkin.  You can then place a candle inside for this magical effect.

4.  Who remembers making these type of leaf crafts when they were a kid?  I cannot wait to do it with Lincoln!

5.  This is something so simple, yet looks so elegant.

6.  And back to the cute is this little turkey?  What Grandparent wouldn't just adore a little handprint turkey from their little turkey?!  Yes.  I'm corny.  I know.

7.  This is a fall printable that all you have to do, is just pop into a frame!  Easy, cheap, and festive!!

8.  This is one of my favorites.  These are coasters modge podged with scrapbook paper and other embellishments, to spell "Fall." I am a huge scrapbook/paper crafts lover, so this really appeals to me.

9.  Another favorite fall craft for kids of mine.  This time, with FEET!  Lincoln is a bit obsessed with his cute little feet, so I think he would have a blast making this :)

10.  Fall yarn wreaths!!!!  Aren't these gorgeous?  I should add some to my shop, you think?

September Birchbox

My September Birchbox is here!!! Last month, my Birchbox was freaking amazing.  I really wasn't sure how it would be possible to top that box.  Here's what I received this month...

tili bags & twistband hair tie
Tili bags & 21 Drops Aromatherapy Blends

Color Club Polish in "Status Update" & Twistbands Hair Tie
Kate Spade New York Twirl Fragrance & WEI to Go Sleep Over Kit

Tili Bags -- This is basically a fancy ziplock baggie.  The idea behind the product, is to carry your toiletries or makeup when traveling.  However, it's really a pretty ziplock baggie.

21 Drops Aromatherapy Blends -- I am looking forward to trying out this product.  Who here has ever had a nagging headache while they're trying to fall asleep?  :::jumps up and down, raising hand:::  With 21 Drops, you roll the aromatherapy blend onto your temples, or any other pressure points, and it will help to alleviate the pain.

Color Club Nail Polish in "Status Update" -- Birchbox teamed up with Color Club and came up with an exclusive line of polishes relating to social media.  Included in the collection are: Put a Pin In It, Tweet Me, and Insta-This, along with the polish I received, Status Update.  I think it was a great marketing idea to develop polish shades in regards to social media.  Because we all know, social media is HUGE!  I really like the shade I received.
Twistband Hair Tie -- Who carries an elastic around there wrist at all times?  Yep.  Me too.  Twistbands are a more stylish alternative to that regular old black elastic band.  They also securely hold your hair in place, without leaving any creases.  I received a sparkly purple twistband, and I really like it!

Kate Spade New York Twirl Fragrance -- I'm not much of a perfume girl.  Sometimes I'll splash on some body spray, but that's even on a rare occasion.  However, since joining Birchbox, I have received plenty of perfume samples.  And because I don't wear perfume much, these tiny vials last me a long time!  This fragrance is nice and light.  Just the way I like them :)

WEI to Go Sleep Over Kit -- I'm still a bit sure how this one works.  It seems like it's a cleanser and a foundation that work together to maintain an ideal complexion.  Hmm...

All in all?  This box was just okay.  I really like the nail polish, and the aromatherapy, but the other items I could have done without.  Prepare to wow me next month, Birchbox!!!

Our visit to Storyland {Review}

One of my fondest childhood memories, is visiting Storyland with my parents and grandparents.  If you're from the New England area, than you more than likely are familiar with this children's theme park.  Nestled in the White Mountains, it's a beautiful location for a family vacation. Storyland is primarily geared towards kids ages 2-12.  Lincoln will turn three years old in November, so he's at the perfect age!

I was really excited when Jared and I decided we would cap off our summer, with a weekend getaway to Storyland.  And because MY DAD IS HOME, we invited my parents and brother along with us. Having my parents and brother with us, was even more nostalgic for me.

When my brother and I were kids, my parents/grandparents were crazy people, and DROVE THE 4 1/2 HOURS EACH WAY IN JUST ONE DAY.  Yeah.  We are not nuts, so we booked a hotel for two nights :)

When we arrived to Storyland bright and early Saturday morning, my brother wanted to get Lincoln his official "Storyland Drivers License."  I kid you not, this is one of the most adorable things I have ever seen.  And, it only took 4 try's to get the perfect shot...

Once Lincoln obtained his license, he ran into Mother Goose!  He really liked her goose...& its hat!

mother goose

Then, I spotted Curious George and knew my boy would love to meet him.  I think Curious George was happy to meet Lincoln, as well!

curious george

We hit up many rides.  My brother offered to go on the Dutch Shoes with Lincoln.  My brother is 6'3".  It was freaking hysterical watching him cram himself into this tiny shoe!  He sure loves his nephew :)

dutch shoes ride

Because Lincoln is so tall for his age, he was able to go on the thrill rides that he loves so much.  Here he is on the Polar Coaster with his Daddy, Grammy, & Grandpa.

Next up was the raft ride.  This photo was taken before we all got soaked.

And because he was already wet, his Daddy & Grammy headed straight towards the flume ride, Bamboo Chutes.

bamboo chutes

Like most theme parks, there was a train.  Trains, or "choo-choo's," as Lincoln calls them, are one of Lincoln's absolute favorite things.  He was thrilled to get on board.

train ride

And, here he is with his Daddy on the train.

father and son

We visited the Loopy Lab.  This is an indoor exhibit that is loaded with all sorts of nerf balls.  There are different things you can do with them, from sucking them up with a vacuum like hose, to shoot them out of different devices to make them blast off!  We spent quite a bit of time in here.  We practically had to drag Lincoln out, and remind him that there was so much more to do!  Here he is hoarding all the blue balls...

There are many different locations for photo opps at Storyland. This one was taken right before we jumped on the safari ride.  I swear he was much happier than he looks in this picture!

safari ride

...and he was even happier once we boarded the safari ride.  Because?  IT WAS JUST LIKE A TRAIN!!!

safari ride

Storyland has a new ride, called Splash Battle.  You board a slow moving water ride that has water guns.  Throughout the ride, you can shoot water at other boats, as well as people outside of the ride using the stationary water guns on the outside.  It was SO FUN, and Lincoln's absolute favorite ride.  Although we got absolutely soaked, it was well worth it!

While I obviously didn't get a picture of us on the ride, here is Lincoln with his uncle teaching him how to shoot water at the boats passing by...
splash battle

A few other rides we went on, but were not able to get photos of, were the antique cars, the tea cups, and the great balloon chase.

We spent a full day at the park, and had a fantastic time!  I was able to even get a cute photo of the three of us...

family photo

I was very happy my parents and brother were able to come along with us, and I think Lincoln was even happier!  If you're in the New England area, or just want to visit a great children's theme park, I'd definitely recommend Storyland.

All opinions expressed are my own.  Special thanks to the wonderful people at Storyland for providing these tickets free of charge, and providing my family with a memorable vacation.
