When I found out that Melissa's "Tattle Along Tuesday" topic was, Baby's & Pets, I was just a wee bit excited. Okay. I practically jumped up and down. I was psyched!! It's no secret I'm a huge animal lover. It was very important to me to introduce Lincoln to pets at a very young age. Pets are apart of our family, and I wanted him accustomed to living that way.
Because he has always been around pets, he really knows no other way of life. He adores his furry friends. Let me introduce you to them...
First we have "our first born," Oliver. Oliver is 5 years old. Jared and I got him right after we got married. He has been a great addition to our family, and a fantastic "big brother" to Lincoln. I cannot say enough great things about this cat. He is AMAZING with Lincoln. Lincoln can seriously do anything to him, and he doesn't care one bit. Although we encourage Lincoln to be "gently & nice" to Oliver, sometimes he gets a little too rough. Thankfully, rather than biting Lincoln, Oliver will let out a little "meow" to let me know when things start to get a little crazy.
So with that, here are some photos of Lincoln and Oliver. Most of these photos occur at the dinner table, because Oliver and Lincoln have been known to share food. :::sigh:::
Next up, we have our sweet pup, Evy. We added Evy to our family last summer. Growing up, I always had a dog. There is something so very specialbout the bond you can have with a dog. They love you unconditionally, just like a child. And the loyalty? It just goes above and beyond. We decided to get a German Shepherd. I have always loved the breed, and how incredibly smart they are.
Lincoln and Evy have become best buds. She adores "her boy." She follows me everywhere I go. She is loving, smart, loyal, yet still has a protective nature about her. I am so happy we added our Evy girl to our family.
Lincoln also has another dog in his life. My parents have a beautiful Akita/Shepherd mix, Lacey. Lacey is a sweet, gentle girl. Lincoln first met her when he was one month old. Wherever Lincoln is in my parents house, you can bet that Lacey will be there as well. She has always "watched" him for me. I cannot say enough good things about this dog. I love her to pieces.
I wrote about Brady a couple of weeks ago. My parents beloved Golden Retriver who passed away very unexpectedly. Brady was the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever known. He was also Lincoln's absolute favorite animal. It makes me so sad that he will more than likely never remember him. Thankfully I have many pictures of Brady, and the two of the together. I still cannot believe he's gone :(
Pets are a huge part of our life. Introducing Lincoln to his pets right from the start, and including them as members of our family, has enabled him to love them dearly. I love watching them bond each day.
For our family, pets will always play a significant role. They can add so much to a family's dynamic. I am grateful for all the furry friends I have been blessed to have in my life, and for all the more I will be lucky enough to be part of.
I'm linking this post up with Growing Up Geeky for Toddle Along Tuesday. Feel free to play along too!!
