Buh Bye Twenties...

Today is my last day in my twenties :::sigh:::

Why does the number 30 seem so scary to me?

Maybe it's because I remember when my parents were 30? I was 4 years old when we had my Dad's surprise 30th birthday party. I remember it clear as day. We bought him a bike with one of those seat attachments for the back, so I could ride with him :)

My Mom tells me her 30's were WAY better than her 20's. She says in her 30's she [finally] had it all figured out, for the most part anyways. In her 20's she was still learning and developing herself. I guess the same could be said about myself....for my early twenties, anyways.

I'm an optimistic person. Always. So I need to be optimistic about this big birthday! Many, many great things are going to happen in my thirties. I have my sweet boy to love, and watch grow. I have an amazing husband. My Dad will be getting his liver transplant and on his way to a healthier life. We'll be conceiving baby #2 at some point. We'll give Lincoln a little brother or sister and watch them bond. I would love to open an etsy shop at some point in time. My best friend is [FINALLY] going to get pregnant, & have a sweet baby [or 3]! I plan on doing extensive training with Evy to get her certified. We're going to be taking Lincoln to Disney in a few months.

Many, MANY good things will be happening. Manyamazing life events for our family. It's going to be a good decade :)

"Never Grow Up"

Have you heard Taylor Swift's song, "Never Grow Up?"

I heard it yesterday morning in the car. I was driving Lincoln to the playground. It seemed so fitting that this song played. My eyes filled with tears listening to the lyrics. They were beautiful, and so very true. I could totally relate to the song. I feel myself thinking this about Lincoln almost everyday.

If you haven't heard the song yet, I strongly encourage you to....just be armed with tissues. I thought I'd share the lyrics with you...enjoy :)

Taylor Swift

"Never Grow Up"

Your little hand's wrapped around my finger
And it's so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause you're dreaming
So I tuck you in turn on your favorite night light
To you everything's funny you got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have honey
If you could stay like that

Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up just stay this little
Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up it could stay this simple
I won't let nobody hurt you won't let no one break your heart
And no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up never grow up

You're in the car on the way to the movies
And you're mortified your mom's dropping you off
At 14 there's just so much you can't do
And you can't wait to move out someday and call your own shots
But don't make her drop you off around the block
Remember that she's getting older too
And don't lose the way that you dance around in your pj's getting ready for school

Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up just stay this little
Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up it could stay this simple
No one's ever burned you nothing's ever left you scarred
And even though you want to just try to never grow up

Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps remember the words said
And all your little brother's favorite songs
I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone

So here I am in my new apartment
In a big city they just dropped me off
It's so much colder that I thought it would be
So I tuck myself in and turn my night light on

Wish I'd never grown up
I wish I'd never grown up

Oh I don't wanna grow up wish I'd never grown up
I could still be little
Oh I don't wanna grow up wish I'd never grown up
It could still be simple
Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up just stay this little
Oh darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up it could stay this simple
Won't let nobody hurt you
Won't let no one break your heart
And even though you want to please try to never grow up
Oh don't you ever grow up
Oh never grow up just never grow up

Oh, & I totally whispered the chorus to Lincoln last night while he was fast asleep, while I stroked his little cheek, and buried my face in his curly hair :)

Happy Wednesday :)

He made my night.

I am an avid reader. I always have been. I don't read as much as I used to now, simply because there isn't enough time, but I LOVE to read. I've read to Lincoln since he was a wee itty bitty babe. You might remember sweet moments we've spent reading, that I posted about here.

Since Lincoln has become quite the active toddler, he's lost interest in me reading to him. :::cue the tears:::

He'll pick up a book here and there and read to himself, but for him to actually sit down with me and let me read to just doesn't happen. I know he'll let me read to him again when he's ready, but boy do I miss it!

As you know, we've been co sleeping since last September, when Jared entered the Police Academy. The other night Lincoln brought a pile of books with him to bed. I was a little surprised. Normally if he chooses to bring something with him, it's a ball. He sat in bed while I brushed my teeth, looking at the books. When I got in bed with him, he handed me a book! It was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I read the book to him, and he was all excited. He pointed to the pictures and cuddled up with me. When we were finished reading, he handed me another book. He handed me our very special book from when he was my tiny baby, Guess How Much I Love You.

I just about melted right then and there. I read that special story to my sweet boy, and then thanked him for letting me read to him. He made my night. I hope many more nights of reading together are in our future :)

Early birthday suprise!

It's no secret that I'm turning the big 3-0 in just one week. My Dad is quite bummed that he'll be in Florida for my birthday. I just told him that I don't have to turn 30 then... Sounds like a good deal to me! :)

I spent all of last week there, the week before he left. The night before we were going to head home, my parents had a little mini surprise birthday party for me. There were two ice cream cakes. One said "Happy Birthday Kami," while the other said "Happy Birthday Jamal." My brother has the oddest sense of humor, and found delight in getting me that other cake. He's also the kind of guy that for Christmas, will wrap me up a potato. I think you get his personality.

Anyways, it was really nice, just myself, Jared, Lincoln, my parents, brother, aunt, and her three girls. Besides the yummy parents surprised me with this pretty little thing. I mentioned to them awhile back that I wanted to dabble a bit with a sewing machine. I have absolutely no idea how to use it whatsoever, but I have a good friend who sews for a living, so I plan on having her teach me some of her magic :)

Oh, and doesn't getting a sewing machine for my 30th birthday seem so sounds like a "getting older" gift, ha! I'm pretty excited about it!

My aunt got me this cute little case. I LOVE the print...
& she loaded it up with a few sewing essentials....

My parents also surprised me with these gorgeous Swarovski earrings. I LOVE hearts, and I LOVE Swarovski crystals. They are perfect.
Maybe 30 isn't so bad, afterall :)

A Mommy first.

Yes, this is the first time I've painted my nails since Lincoln was born. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. I used to paint my nails every week when I was pregnant with him...oh how times have changed! The color looks more blue/grey than in the picture. And, incase you're wondering, the polish is by Sally Hansen, color is gunmetal. I give it a few hours before it starts to chip :)

Who the heck is this kid?

This surely cannot be my sweet itty bitty BABY eating with a :::gasp::: FORK!!!

We've always offered Lincoln utensils while eating. Most of the time, he'll just play with it, or hold it in one hand, while shoveling food into his mouth with the other hand.

However, now-a-days, he wants to feed himself! He doesn't care if it's messy or you can see from the photo, he's eating ravioli :)

He does really well with a spoon, if he's eating oatmeal or yogurt. I think it's because it stays on a little bit easier. He's making his Momma proud, that's for sure! But he surely is growing up TOO FAST!!!

He's rapidly approaching 20 months old! Which means, just FOUR months until his SECOND birthday!?! Umm. Yeah. I'm going to have to get in party planning mode soon. Whoa. Slow down sweet boy. Don't grow up too fast on your Momma!

Happy Friday! & I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! & if you haven't entered the latest giveaway, click's a good one!!!

Thankful Thursday

I always say I need to do these posts more often, but it seldom happens. Anyways, I'm back at it today...go me! Here's what I'm thankful for this week....

The weather. The past few days or so have been beautiful. Not too hot, nice little breeze. It's pure bliss.

Our sweet puppy, Evy, is adjusting SO well. I am amazed. She cried a bit the first night in her crate, but that was it. Now she doesn't cry, and last night she didn't even pee in there all night long! She's a smart little pup. I just emailed a trainer today and I'm awaiting her response for scheduling. I have many plans for our Evy girl :)

My brother. He is amazing. Seriously. He still lives at home with my parents, and he's really helped my Mom out a TON with my Dad. It sucks, because I'm 2 1/2 hours away and can't be there as often as I'd like. My brother has really grown up a lot this past year, and I'm so proud of him.

My husband. I feel like I don't thank him enough. He's my rock, my hero, my very best friend. I love him more each day. And, I'm so very thankful to have him as my partner in this crazy life of ours :)

And last, but certainly not least, my sweet boy, Lincoln. There's just no way I could leave him out. He's my little miracle. My perfect, strong boy. I adore my son.

What are you thankful for this week?

Last week in review.

To say we had a busy week last week, would be an understatement. We had my three cousins, ages 10, 12, & 13 for the week. Lincoln LOVES his girls. He definitely was even more spoiled than usual! Here is my little man enjoying a wagon ride. All 3 girls took turns pulling him along. He was in his glory. On the Fourth of July, we headed to Jared's aunt & uncle's house for their annual party. We go to this party every year. It's huge. They have a huge fireworks display at the end of the night. It's a good time.
Unfortunately, my sweet boy was MISERABLE the entire day. He's really getting bad with how attached he is to Jared and me. He literally wanted to be in one of our arms the entire day. He's also getting his two year molars, so that's didn't help too much either. He ended up taking an hour nap on his Daddy. He was a little more pleasant afterwards...

We weren't sure how Lincoln would handle the fireworks, but we figured we'd try it out. He LOVED them at first. He was squealing with delight each time they went off, and pointing into the sky saying "oohh oohh!!"

He was DONE. Like we had to leave IMMEDIATELY. My poor boy had his arms wrapped so tightly around my neck and was screaming. We said goodbye to everyone quickly, and left.

The next day, we decided to take Lincoln and the girls to Chuck E Cheese. Lincoln has never been before, so we figured it was time. I swear, he was much happier than he looks in this picture...

& here's my little man driving. There weren't any tokens in this machine and he was having a ball. He seriously stayed here for like 10 minutes.

When it was time to leave, Lincoln had enough tickets to get a prize. We let him pick, and he chose a balloon [big surprise]! I think he liked his first visit to Chuck E Cheese!

It was a beautiful week, so we played outside a lot. He is really starting to love nature. He's in awe of trees, rocks, and sticks!!!

We went to a local playground one afternoon, but didn't stay too long because of the heat. He did enjoy himself though. Here he is with his cousin, Ashley.

We wanted to do something special with the girls, so we headed to
CoCo Key Water Resort. It's an indoor waterpark, & it was tons of fun! Lincoln really loved it. They had this toddler area, and he could walk around the water all by himself. He LOVED the little areas where water would spray out at you :)

We spent some more time outside. Lincoln mowed the lawn for us...all 2 1/2 acres :)

He was very proud of his work :)

& we finished off the week, getting our sweet puppy, Evy! She is precious!!!

Evy is adjusting VERY well to her new home. I'm seriously in awe at how well she's already doing. She even knows her name already! She'll happily run to me when I call her :)

So, that was our week. Super busy, yet super fun! How was your week? Don't forget to enter our current giveaway here.

Elm Studios [Review & Giveaway]

Elm Studios is an Etsy shop, that offers beautiful, personalized clay items. Each piece is handmade and customized for a truly unique piece.

Erin, the shop owner, is a Mom of two sweet little girls. Elm Studios allows her the opportunity to be a stay at home Mom, and have the shop she's dreamed of since she's been a little girl.

Each piece Erin creates is hand crafted, and personalized. No two items are alike! Her work is really beautiful. This clay bowl reminds me of my own wedding. The song, "It feels like Home," by Chantal Kreviazuk, was our last dance song, at our wedding. Isn't it gorgeous?

I know a lot of my readers are Mommy's, Mommy-to-be's, or trying to become a Mommy in the near future. This clay bowl is super sweet to commensurate your little miracle.

Not only does Erin at Elm Studios make exquisite clay bowls, she also creates personalized wall hangings. There are many designs to choose from, and they are all finished with such beautiful craftsmanship.

This one is very sweet. It would be perfect to symbolize your special day. It would also make a lovely wedding gift for the happy couple.

Erin offered me the pleasure to choose an item in her shop to review. After looking at all her items [again and again and again], I finally decided on the perfect piece. I chose to review her "You are my Sunshine" clay bowl.

It was very hard for me to choose one item, there were SO many I loved. However, I kept going back to this one. You are my Sunshine, has been the song I have sang to Lincoln since he was just a wee little babe. If you know me in real life, you know I don't sing. I don't sing well, that is. My Mom always sang to me as a child, and I always thought she had the most beautiful voice in the world. When I became a Mom myself, instinct took over, and I sang that sweet song to my baby. I can sing any song in the world, but as soon as I sing You are my Sunshine, Lincoln instantly calms down. It's our special little song.

This clay bowl was a perfect fit :)

As stunning as the bowl looks in the photo, it is even more beautiful in real life. I love how it's handmade. It's the only one like it in the world. I think personalized items are so meaningful. If someone gave me one of these clay bowls or wall hangings as a gift, I would be very touched. It just seems to make the gift even more special, than it already is.

And now for the part you've all been waiting for.......

Elm Studios is generously offering one of my very lucky readers any piece up to $20 of their choosing. If you like an item that is more than $20, you can use that towards your item! Here's how to enter:

Water is FUN!!

We recently got Lincoln a water table. It's something I've been thinking of getting him for quite some time now. After much research [yes, don't make fun of me, I researched water tables], we decided to go with the Little Tikes pirate ship water table. This isn't your basic water table...we went for all the bells and whistles with this one! But, to put a smile on my sweet boy's face...this thing was priceless! Here he is checking it out for the first time...

It was smart that we put his bathing suit on, because he was literally scooping cup fulls of water and dumping them on himself. He had a grand old time! The water wasn't very warm, either. Lincoln didn't care though, he happily squealed and danced while he got soaked :)

I really think the $60 was well invested.....& yes, don't judge about me spending $60 on a water table ;)

Here's his latest trick. He tries to catch the water in his mouth....

He cracks me up. He is at such a fun age right now. His personality seems to develop more and more each day. He really is a fun kid :)

Puppy Video!

We went to visit our puppy the other day, and I got some action on video! Although Lincoln was a little cranky, it's still cute :) Evy is the pup with the floppy ears. Her sister is the other one :)
