Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today, is my Dad's 56th birthday. We're planning a big backyard cookout on Saturday, to celebrate his birthday, as well as his upcoming move to Florida. He knows about the cookout, but he has no idea how many people will actually be there. He's going to be so happy.

So, I figured on my Dad's birthday, I'd share some photos of the two of us together. This is where you get to see me as a wee babe :)

In this photo, I was about 2 years old. We were getting ready to go ride my Dad's bike!

Wasn't he a good Daddy playing with his baby girl :)

Major fast forward to my rehearsal dinner for our wedding. Here we are with my matron of honor, & bestest friend!

& here we are in the horse & carriage on my wedding day. My Dad was SO nervous!!!

& here he is with his sweet Grandson. Lincoln loves his Grandpa, so much.

Happy Birthday, to one of the most amazing men I know. Here's to 56 years, and many many more!! I love you, Dad!!! xoxo "Moose" [yes, this is his nickname for me] :)

Silly Photos

I was going through the gazillion photos of Lincoln the other night, and I came across a few that I found rather hysterical. These are from when he was just a wee itty bitty babe. I thought I'd share them with you all :)

Here's the first of the bunch. He was not even a month old! Look how alert he was...& clearly, his personality was already shining through... This one is a classic. I was shooting photos for our Christmas card. Look what my sweet boy was doing to the camera. You think he was done having his picture taken? Oh, & no. That photo didn't make the card.

Here are two more from our Christmas card photo shoot.
In this one he's literally just 3 months old, & cuter than ever :)

This one I like to call "the boxer"
& this one "the sneezer"

& here's one of my favorites. I call this one "The Grumpy Pants Collection."

Hope you enjoyed these photos!!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!

Today, is my sweet dog Lacey's 11th birthday. She is half Akita, & half German Shepherd. She is such a great dog, and I adore her to pieces. I got her right when I really started struggling with panic attacks, when I was 19 years old. I was out of work, because of the attacks, and she was home with me while my parents were at work, and my brother at school. We bonded over that time, and have a very strong connection.

When I got married, as much as it killed me, I decided not to take her to live with me in Connecticut. Her "home" was with my parents, brother, and their Golden Retriever, Brady. Her and Brady are inseperable. I figured she'd be happiest, where's she's always been.

On my wedding day, you know I snagged the opportunity to get some professional photos of me with my sweet Lacey. You would NEVER know in these pictures that she wasn't a fan of the photographer. She dislikes men, with the exception of my Dad and brother. Funny though, she ALWAYS loved Jared. I knew he was a good man :)

When I got pregnant with Lincoln, I was so curious as to how she'd be with him. She met him for the first time, when he was one month old. She seriously watched him for me. Wherever Lincoln was in the house, Lacey was right there.

She's been great with him ever since. Even though she's older, she has remarkable tolerance. She's so smart. I think she enjoys having a tv buddy :)

So, Happy Birthday, to my beautiful, sweet Lacey girl. Thank you for everything you have brought to my life. I love you SO much!! xoxo

Toddler sized lunch.

Is there really anything cuter than a toddler sized lunch? Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating just a bit, but I think it's pretty darn cute :)

Oh, & no, this perfect looking little plate didn't stay this perfect looking for long!

Hope you're having a relaxing Sunday!!! :)

Ella's Kitchen [Review & Giveaway]

Who knew at 19 months old, I'd still be giving my toddler baby food?! I certainly never expected it. However, when you have a child who starts to suddenly become the pickiest eater ever, you start thinking of ways to improvise. You need to get those wholesome nutrients into their system somehow! So, what do you do?

I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to review some products from
Ella's Kitchen. Ella's Kitchen provides not only pureed fruit and vegetable pouches for babies, but for toddlers like Lincoln. He can snack on a pouch himself, and get those yummy nutrients!

Not only does
Ella's Kitchen provide convenient food for babies and toddlers, their food is 100% organic. I never paid too much attention to organic food. That is until I had Lincoln. Suddenly I was obsessed & wanted anything and everything organic. I wanted the very best for my baby!
Ella's Kitchen offers two types of food products, Ella's 1 Organic Baby Food and Smoothie Fruits. I was sent 6 pouches for Lincoln to try.
Ella's Kitchen combines many different fruits and vegetables into one pouch. I guess the combination of the flavors is quite tasty, because Lincoln seriously inhaled one! Just don't tell him he's eating butternut squash, carrots, apples, & prunes ;)

Lincoln thinks they're scrumptious. Now all I have to do, is hand him one for a snack, or I can even throw one in my diaper bag when we're out and about. If Lincoln sees the pouch, he wants it then and there!

Ella's Kitchen has kindly offered one of my readers a sample pack [12 pouches in total] to win! Here's how to enter:

We picked our puppy!!!

I knew we'd end up choosing the sweet baby girl pup we fell in love with at our last visit. Jared was worried that I wouldn't remember which one she was, but I knew I would :)

So with that being said, I'd like to introduce you all to the newest addition of our family, Evy....
Yes, we have already chosen her name. We are naming her Evy, after my Grandmother, Yvonne. My Grandmother was a dog breeder, and it just so happens that the very first breed of dogs she bred, were German Shepherds. I thought the name suited our little girl quite well :)

Here I am with little Evy....I say "little" while I can...she's going to grow SO fast!!!& here's Jared with his little girl....& yes, he already bought her a grey & pink polka dot collar & leash :)

My parents came with us to see the puppies. My Dad really wanted to see them...especially because he might not get another chance to before he goes to Florida. My Mom is thrilled that we're naming her after her mother. Here is Lincoln with his Grammy...the puppies LOVE him...

& here's my sweet little boy getting his shorts pulled by a pup! This puppy seriously wouldn't leave him alone!& this is the cute little innocent face of the pup that was trying to pull off Lincoln's shorts! You'd never know he was so mischievous by that precious face :)Lincoln loved playing ball with the puppies....Here's my Dad with Evy....

& here's my Mom with her....Evy all snuggled up with a bunny stuffed animal :)Seriously, isn't she SO sweet! We're so in love :)

We still have a couple more weeks before we can bring her home with us. She seems to have a great temperament. I'm really looking forward to training her! And, of course I'm excited that Lincoln is going to have a best friend!! It's going to be SO cute watching the two of them interact.

There will be many more puppy pictures to come soon! :)

Oh, and next week I have a pretty awesome giveaway that is going to be sure to not miss this one!!!

Change of plans.

Originally, my Dad was supposed to spend this entire week with us. It was a great plan. He'd be able to spend some nice quality time with Lincoln, before he goes to Florida next month.

My parents and brother came to my house on Saturday to spend the weekend. Saturday my Dad was doing okay, he was tired, but okay. Sunday came, and seriously, it was like he got so much worse overnight. He ended up falling in my bathroom, and he practically slept the entire day. He is SO weak. He sometimes can't get up from the chair he's sitting in. Physically, I cannot help him. My Mom obviously knows this, so he ended up going back home with her and my brother on Sunday. My Dad was pretty disappointed, but he was well aware that I can't help him like that.

I also gave him the photo book that I made for him to bring with him to Florida. It has pictures in it of him and Lincoln. He loved it. He cried while looking through the book with my Mom. She is seriously such a strong woman, she completely held it together. After he looked through the book, he gave Lincoln a hug, and he sobbed uncontrollably. My heart seriously broke into a thousand pieces. I know how afraid he is. He loves his Grandson and wants to stick around for many, MANY more years to watch him grow up.

Life sometimes really isn't fair. My Dad's a good man. He's a wonderful father, and an amazing grandfather. He rarely drank before his diagnosis with cirrhosis. I seriously could probably count on one hand the amount of times I ever saw my Dad drink. It was just the luck of the draw that he got this disease, and he doesn't deserve it one bit.

I know he's going to miss Lincoln terribly while he's in Florida. He'll be away for his second birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We haven't mentioned anything to him yet, but depending on what's going on Christmas time, the three of us, along with my Mom and brother, might spend Christmas in Florida this year.

I honestly think my Dad is afraid Lincoln is going to forget him.. and then there's the though that he'll never see him again. It breaks my heart. I keep telling him Lincoln is so young and won't remember this at all. But he will remember after the surgery, and all the memories they'll be able to make. He'll finally be able to play with his Grandson. That right there, makes this all worthwhile.

If you're the praying type, and have a quick moment, please send my Dad all the positive prayers, vibes, thoughts, that he'll get this transplant as quickly as possible. I really hope he gets it the second he gets to Florida. My Dad's a good guy. He doesn't deserve this :(

And now....

And now he's an even more amazing Grandpa to my sweet boy...

Hope all the men in your life enjoy their special day!

I found another "time suck."

Pinterest. Have you heard of it? If not, you are SO missing out. I honestly was determined to NOT get involved in this debauchery. I really didn't want to add another "time suck into the mix. After all, there are tons of them out there online...facebook, twitter, blogger, my Mommy board, I could go on and on...& on and on again.

But when my online Mommy friends started chatting about Pinterest, and how much they were loving it, I started to get curious. Finally, I broke down and asked one of them for an invite [because this whole Pinterest thing, is seriously like a prestigious need an invite to get in!]

& well, the rest is history. I'm hooked.

In case you haven't heard of Pinterest, to sum it up best, it's visual bookmarking. It's your own virtual inspirational bulletin board. Sounds weird, right? Yeah. I thought so too. I really had to try it out for myself to fully understand it.

But, where else would I find this freaking adorable playset?!?! I really would prefer to not know the price tag...& you know it's a fortune when the retailer says "call for pricing." But, how freaking cool is this?!
& how about these bunk beds? That looks like way too much fun to sleep! However, I think they are so creative, & what kid wouldn't like this setup?!

& how about some inspiration for our dream back patio. This looks amazing!

So, now I have one more little "time suck" to keep me from doing household chores when Lincoln naps. Oh well, it's good to be inspired ;)

Thankful Thursday

I haven't done one of these posts in a long time, so I figured I was due.

What am I thankful for lately?

How about the SUN! We had such a craptastic winter, that I am SO happy to FINALLY have some sunshine! Being able to take my sweet boy outside to splash around in his water table, watch him "bubble" mow our lawn, or play some ball, is just about the best thing ever :)

I am very thankful we're finally getting a puppy! I'm VERY excited about this. I've always had a dog, technically two, growing up. When I got married and didn't have a dog, something was just missing. I love my sweet cat, Oliver, but I NEED a dog!

As crazy as this might sound, I'm very thankful my Dad is moving temporarily to Florida. By doing this, he'll be able to get his liver transplant MUCH faster, than if he was to stay here in New England. If he waited for one here, it wouldn't be for years. If he goes to Florida, the estimated wait time is 3 weeks to 3 months. HUGE difference!

Speaking of my Dad, I am very thankful that him, my Mom, and my brother are spending this Father's Day weekend at our house. It will be great to have my family together.

I'm extremely thankful that my husband has a secure job where I don't have to work. He might work crazy insane hours, but it allows me to stay home with my sweet boy.

I know I write about her all the time, but I'm so very thankful for my therapist, and for finally going into therapy for my panic disorder. It has really changed my life.

What are you thankful for this week?

The Big 3-0

That's right folks. I'm turning 30, August 1st. Crazy. I really don't even know how that is possible! As much as I'm *trying* to embrace the whole turning 30 milestone, in all honesty, I'm having a bit of a hard time with it.

I know "age is just a number," and all that jazz, but for whatever reason, I'm sad to leave my twenties behind. My twenties were good to me.

Well, maybe my early twenties were a bit crazy, and they even brought some heartache. My Grandmother passed away when I was 21, there was the Station nightclub fire literally the night of my Grandmother's funeral [one of my cousins friends died in the fire, and ironically she was at my Grandmother's funeral that morning]. There was the whole dating scene, and while I thought it was fun at the time, GOD am I glad to be done with that! My Dad was diagnosed with cirrhosis, and we found out he was going to need a liver transplant. I also had a miscarriage a few months before we conceived Lincoln, and who can forget my thyroid cancer?!

Yeah. All that nonsense, I am happy to be done with.

But, then I look at all the positive and happy things that happened in my twenties. I met Jared when I was 23, graduated college, got married at 25, built our own house, and had my sweet baby boy at 28.

In all actuality, looking at all of this, and seeing everything I have accomplished, I'm pretty darn proud of myself! In all honesty, I'm exactly where I want to be at this stage in my life...and really, that's all anyone can ask for. And besides, aren't the thirties the new twenties? :)

Potty Training

Consider yourself forewarned: If you don't like topics that include, but aren't limited too, poop, pee, potty training, or a Momma who gets overly excited about these kind of things, then you might want to back out of this post.

Well folks, we're potty training! Sort of. I'm kind of just letting Lincoln do his own thing with it. I'm letting him run the show for now. For the past couple of days I've been pretty much just randomly putting him on the potty. He normally likes to brush his teeth or read a book while he's sitting there. Sometimes he'll ask me to go on it. When he does that, I get really excited and eagerly put him on.

We had our first successful pee the other night, and I cheered for him! He LOVES when we cheer for him. He laughed while he was peeing. It was adorable :)

& we also had quite the disastrous event the other night. While I was giving Lincoln his bath, he stood up in the tub and made his famous poop face. I picked him up in hopes to get him to poop on the potty. Well, I was this.close to putting his little tush on the potty when I heard, "plop." That would be the sound of poop splattering on my floor. Oye!

Lincoln seems to be exhibiting some typical signs that he's totally ready for potty training. The first one being, he goes and hides when he poops. He has even gone into the bathroom, shut the door and pooped. At least he knows where to go, right?!

I also cannot leave my sweet boy with just a diaper on. He'll take it off. HOWEVER, not immediately. He seems to take it off right after he pees in it.

We'll see where this goes. But, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about these potty training adventures! I even whipped out my camera the other night while he was reading on the potty. Oh, and as you can see from this picture, he has a bit of an obsession with the toilet paper...which is why it's a complete mess!

This also happens to be Lincoln's adorable new "cheese" face :)

Right before I snap a photo of my sweet boy, I ask him to say cheese. And he says "cheeeeese" in his little high pitched voice. I melt, every time.

Puppies, Puppies, PUPPIES!!!

Who wants to see puppy pictures?!?! Because, I gotz them!!!

We went to see the litter of pups the other day. They are just shy of 4 weeks old, & cute as heck! We played with the puppies for almost 2 hours! Lincoln had a blast. As you can see from this picture...and no, we did not put our sweet boy in the dog crate, he willingly went in and out the entire time we were there...
Here are a few pictures of the sweet pups...

This little guy is the runt of the litter. Isn't he sooo teeny tiny?! He isn't even half the size of his litter mates!!!

Like I said, Lincoln LOVED the pups! He couldn't get enough of them. He was SO gentle and sweet, it melted my heart! He kept giving them hugs :)

As you can see, he clearly is an animal lover :)

Because the pups are still so young, we don't have to make a definite choice as to which one we'd like yet. We plan on going back to visit every week, mainly for Lincoln, so he can get used to the puppies....although, really, I don't think we're going to have any problems in that department.

We had first pick of the males, and there were four cuuuute baby boys. We were in love. Then something happened. She brought out two sweet girls. Including this precious face...

& my heart melted. I KNEW this was our puppy. However, we don't have first pick of the females....what to do?!

Jared knew I was in love with this puppy....he was just as in love with her too! So, he was talking to the breeder and asking if there was a first pick of the females yet. She said "NO!!!" Well, what did we do next you ask? We switched. Then and there, we switched from first male pick, to first female.

We're getting a sweet baby girl!!!! I won't be outnumbered in our house any longer [even our cat is a boy]. I am soooo happy!!!

We go back to visit next week, so I'll take more pictures of the pups so you all can see how much they've grown in just one weeks time!

Lincoln is going to have a best friend :) :) :)
