Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes...

Major changes are in the works for our household...

Jared got offered a new job! Which is very exciting, & scary all at the same time. He recently got offered the position of a police officer for a town nearby. He just has to finish a few of the required testing procedures, and then he'll be off to the police academy. That is the scary part...the academy. He will be gone for almost 6 entire months. He can come home on the weekends, but he has to stay there during the week. I am not going to lie, it's going to be hard, very hard. I think it will be even more difficult because I am 2 1/2 hours away from my family...& live right next to my inlaws. I think I will definitely be making the trek home to Rhode Island a lot more frequently during the week, for my own sanity especially!

This is a great opportunity for our family. The academy will be hard, but in the long run, it will be worth it. It's going to be so difficult for Jared to be away from Lincoln during the week. I promised him I'd text him a picture of his little buddy every day. I know it's not the same as seeing them, how can it be?! ...but it at least will keep him connected in some way.

Because this is rapidly approaching, we have been trying to spend some extra quality family time whenever we have a spare moment. Although the academy will be hard, I want Jared to know I fully support him, and that I can do this. I will keep you all updated on the process.

I cannot just leave a post without a picture of my sweet Lincoln, so here is one that was taken a couple nights ago with his Daddy...

How did I get so lucky to have these boys in my life :)

I was sent this adorable matching "Monster" bib & burb cloth set to try out [well for Lincoln to try out]!

Isn't it cute?! I love bibs & burp cloths...especially matching ones! Lincoln always goes out of the house dressed in some cute matching outfit, so why should his bib & burpie be any different?!

The burp cloths are super absorbant. In the middle of the cloth [where the fabric is], is thicker than the rest of the cloth...which is great to soak in spit up, drool, boogies, you name it!

The bib provided full coverage around Lincoln's neck so his cute outfit didn't get any stains!

8 months!

How can it be that my sweet boy is 8 months old?! This is going by faster than I ever imagined!

Lincoln seems to be learning new things ever day! It is amazing to watch him discover something & see the look of accomplishment in his eyes.

He still loves his pureed food. We are working on finger foods, but most he despises the texture. There are a few finger foods [other than puffs & cheerios] that he is warming up to. Bananas have finally made the list. It seemed like it took forever for him to like banana pieces, which really surprised me because they're his absolute favorite pureed food! As soon as I'd put one into his mouth, he'd make his yucky face & spit it out, gagging! Watermelon, cantaloupe, & cheese [the boy LOVES cheese!] have topped the list as well.

Lincoln is also getting to be quite the mobile man in his walker!...don't worry though, we live in a ranch, no stairs :)

He follows me everywhere in his walker. It's really really cute. While he's following me around the house, he makes the "mmmm" sound. So cute!

Oh, and he says "Momma!" Actually, he has been saying it for awhile now, but I'm not sure if he necessarily understands what he's saying. Hmmm...we'll count it though! He also says Ma, Mama....my sweet boy has mastered the "M" sound :)

Gosh he's so handsome :) He amazes me more and more each day. How did I get so lucky to have him as my son?! I adore my sweet little Lincoln :)

Weekend Madness!

You are forewarned...this post is going to be bursting out the seams with pictures!

We had a crazy, fun-filled weekend :) On Friday, my Aunt dropped two of my cousins off to spend the weekend with us. Lincoln LOVES his big cousins! He loved playing with them, non-stop. By the end of each day, he'd be pooped from playing so hard all day. Having the girls around also allowed me to get some things done around the house!

On Saturday, we went to a birthday party. It was SO SO hot! Lincoln has decided that he does not like the heat at all. He was a fussy man. There was a swing at the party, so we plopped him inside...he wasn't too sure if he liked it at first...

...But soon he was squealing with delight! He LOVED it! Which means, Daddy needs to get to work & set his up at our house :)

After some swinging, this is what happened...

Yup, he fell asleep in the swing. We let him nap in there for about 30 minutes, & then his head started getting too droopy so we took him out to finish his nap on his blanket. Here he is with his sleepy eyes after he woke up...

Sunday, we headed to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. Lincoln loved all the animals & the fish tanks. Unfortunately, I didn't get many pictures...here he is hanging out in the high chair with his sippy cup...

We had a great, busy weekend. Oh, and somewhere between all that craziness, my sweet boy turned 8 months! I'll save that for another post :)

Pretty Smitten [Product Review]

I recently had the pleasure of reviewing a beautiful print from Pretty Smitten . The print I was sent is an 8x10 customized You are my Sunshine print.

First let me tell you that You are my Sunshine, is a very special song between me & my sweet little Lincoln. It is the one lullabye I will sing to him, & it will almost immediately make him stop crying.

I had the print personalized with Lincoln's name, date of birth, weight, & length. I had chocolate brown text on bluebell paper. I matted it myself with a brown matte to match the text, & framed it in a white 11x14 frame. Here's the result... Pretty darn gorgeous, don't you think?!

I now have it hanging on the wall, in Lincoln's nursery...it completes his room perfectly.

My son is a comedian...

Lincoln is really starting to get quite the personality.

& it's just getting more fun by the day!

The other night he was seriously protesting going to bed. Normally he takes his last bottle at 8pm & then goes to sleep. However, at 10pm, my sweet little boy was playing happily in his crib. So when I went in there to check on him, I said, "okay mister, Mommy's serious, it's bedtime." Do you know what my precious boy did? The little stinker laughed at me. HUGE belly laughs. He found me hysterical. So, obviously I couldn't help laughing myself. This carried on...him laughing at me. It didn't matter what I said, or did, he just laughed :)

He is also starting to laugh whenever I do. If I look at him & laugh, he will crack up! It's really funny.

Today he must have really tuckered himself out, because I left the room to go pee, & came back to this...

I quickly grabbed my cell phone to take a pic :) Then, I picked him up & carried him to his crib. He only took a 30 minute nap, & then woke up ready to play some more!

I can only imagine what's in store for us as his little personality further develops. He's quite the character :)

Weekend Recap!

We had a great weekend! Friday afternoon, my parents arrived from Rhode Island to spend the entire weekend with us. We had a huge cookout on Saturday with my Mom's side of the family. Most of them haven't seen our house yet, so they all surprisingly brought us housewarming gifts! We so didn't expect that, but it was still very sweet of them :)

Lincoln got SO much attention, of course. He loved every minute of it, & managed to function with only a 20 minute nap before they arrived.

We were able to get a group shot, thanks to Jared's uncle who stopped by. Here's the crew...

We also got a really cute picture of Lincoln with all of his big cousins. They refer to him as, "baby Lincoln." :)

And finally, after all that excitement wore off, Lincoln passed out on Grandpa...with his new green monkey stuffed animal :)

A great time was had by all! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Nora & Finn Handmade Hats Review/Giveaway [Part 1]

Nora & Finn is an Etsy shop that specializes in custom handmade hats. Her work is absolutely beautiful! I was kindly sent this super cute hat for my little Lincoln.

I guess you probably figured out by now that I'm a big time sucker for cute baby boy hats :) This one is unbelievably adorable, and Lincoln thought so too! He was very excited when I handed it to him. He immediately started to "shake it up," which is what he does with all things he loves :)

It's the perfect size for Lincoln, because there is some stretch in it, so it will be able to fit him this fall/winter season. Please excuse the excessive drool on his shirt, he's teething to the extreme....
