7 Months Old

I really do not know when or how it happened, but suddenly my sweet boy is 7 months old! He is closer to being one year old, than he is a newborn...and that sounds absolutely unbelievably crazy to me! It feels like he was just being placed into my arms for the first time, yet, I cannot imagine my life without him.

Lincoln is learning new things literally every day. It truly amazes me to watch him discover the smallest things, & find such joy and amazement.

We had his 6 month checkup the other day [2 days before he turned 7 months, go figure]...and he is measuring in the 97th percentile for his height and weight. He was 20 lbs 7 1/2 oz & 28 3/4 inches! He did very well for his appointment, & his pedi was impressed with all of his milestones. We got the go ahead to try pretty much any food with him, but we're keeping quiet about that because we don't want any crazy family members to try to give him a hot dog quite yet ;)

As always, we had our 7 month photo shoot :) It was very hard to get pictures because my sweet boy does not like to sit still! He does however LOVE the camera...he smiles as soon as I take it out :) Here he is nomming away on Sophie...

I know I say it every month, but time seriously needs to SLOW way down! I love watching Lincoln develop & discover new things, but at the same time, I miss that itty bitty tiny baby...I suppose he'll just always be my "itty bitty" tiny baby :)

Even my husband likes it, which is a major compliment because he is seriously the pickest man ever! The case is fixed right onto the wipes case, so there is no way it is slipping off. Beautiful Blogger Award

Special thanks to Jenny over at The Adventures of Two Under Two for this lovely award. Head on over to her blog to read up on her adorable son Henry, & her pregnancy with her second son Holden. Now I am supposed to tell you 7 things about myself that you don't already know. Hmm, let's see....

1. I always said I wanted to have two children. Now that I have little Lincoln, I want three!

2. I would love to open my own little scrapbooking store.

3. When I was 13 I won a National Teen Business Plan Award. Basically I had to create a non-existing business and develop a business plan for it. I got to travel to Washington DC and North Carolina for the awards & to meet with some high-end business women. Once I returned home, the fun didn't stop there. I was invited to several women's business events throughout New England & had to give numerous speeches. Although it sounds like a crazy thing for a 13 year old to do, I had a blast & met some pretty amazing people.

4. I love my planner. And no, I don't have one of those fancy electronic ones.

5. Sometimes I wish Jared & I lived near my family in RI. It's really tough sometimes to be away from them...even if it is only 2 hours.

6. But, on the flip side, I always said I wanted to build my own house....and we did!

7. I cannot wait to get a puppy. I have always had a dog growing up & it's killing me not having one. But, right now I know it wouldn't be fair to the puppy to get one. I can't give the time & training attention it would deserve. I think we'll get one next spring when Lincoln is a little over a year & can help Mommy train his puppy :) Oh...and this puppy has to be a big dog. I either want a German Shepherd or a Golden Retriever...we'll see ;)

"Mom" Suit update...

Well, I got that cute tankini bathing suit in the mail that I posted about last week. And, well, my boobs are way too big for the medium :( I planned on originally buying the large, but Jared said, "oh no, just a medium." So my mom suit is one big fail. I am apparently small bottoms and large top. Looks like I'll be exchanging the top & hopefully they'll have a large! ugh.

Father's Day Weekend

We had quite the busy weekend! This past Sunday was Father's Day, & we headed to my parents house in Rhode Island on Saturday morning to spend the weekend there. On Saturday, we went to this place called Wright's Chicken Farm. It is sooo incredibly yummy. It is basically "all you can eat" chicken, pasta, salad, and french fries...absolutely scrumptious! We went with my parents, aunt & her kids. Here is my big boy testing out the high chair...

We had a fun-filled day on Sunday as well. Jared already received his Father's Day present from Lincoln earlier in the week, but I picked him up a cute "Daddy & Me" frame at the gift shop the day before. It's super cute, it has a Daddy giraffe & a baby giraffe. We love all things "giraffe," and I think probably because of his love for Sophie! His other Father's Day gift was an "ABC" photo book. Lincoln showed a HUGE interest in my parents dogs! He was reaching for them and petting them, and when they gave him little kisses he got all excited! He has seen them many times before, but he's really starting to show some interest. Here he is getting some loving from Brady.

"Mom" Suit...

...I gots one! Honestly, I haven't worn a bikini in probably like two years now..which means I've been rockin' the tankini/mom suit for quite some time. However, now that I have the baby, it just seems more fun to say it ;) However, I wanted to get a new one for the season. I have just one bathing suit, and Lincoln seems to love the water, so I need at least one more. Apparently bathing suit season is over in the retail world, so everything was picked over at the stores. Luckily Target.com still had plenty cute "mom" suits to choose from. This is what I went with...whatcha think?!

I'm hoping it fits because I hate returning stuff. But, I do think it's super cute! Jared gave it two thumbs up as well, so that's always a good thing :) I can't wait to sport it at the pool with my super cute accessory [my sweet Lincoln, of course]!

Q&A follow up post!

Anne asked: "I would like to know what you guys do for a living?" Well, I am a stay at home mom. I do have a Bachelor's degree in English. Prior to having Lincoln, I worked in Human Resources. Jared works in construction. His company is having a tough year because of the economy so he was actually laid off from October until April...which honestly worked out perfectly because he was able to be home with Lincoln when he was a wee little baby. He actually just got laid off again last week...ugh. He'll probably be going back in September, so we're making the most of it and going to enjoy having a family filled summer :)

Breedwoman asked: "Where do you like to shop?" Okay. I will tell you where I like to shop for myself, not for Lincoln [although I mostly shop for him nowadays ;)]. My absolute favorite store is Target. We seriously go there like once a week. I love American Eagle for clothes, and Kohls is also one of my favorites.
"Are you a coupon cutter?" I am absolutely a coupon cutter. Jared and I go through the coupons every Sunday together...and I search online as well. Also, if I'm shopping online, I almost ALWAYS have a coupon code :)
"How are you able to be a SAHM at this day in age?" I honestly able to be a SAHM because of our ridiculously low mortgage. If I told you what our mortgage was, your jaw would drop, seriously. Yes, we did build our own house, but we did most of it ourselves. We have a lot of family/friends that work in different industries and they were able to save us a TON of money. I know how lucky I am, and I am very very thankful.

Liz asked: "What is your greatest achievement in life (besides your precious son)?" Man, now that is a hard one, because Lincoln would absolutely be my first answer! I would have to say [finally] getting my college degree. It took me seven [very long] years, but I do have my pretty degree framed on my office wall :)
"What is your biggest fear?" Hands down, something, anything happening to Lincoln. I just want to protect him from absolutely everything possible. I know there will be times when he does get hurt, and it will hurt me so much more than it will hurt him. I just want him safe. Always.

Mandy asked: "What is your favorite thing to do when you have "me" time?" Well, as I know Mandy knows because she has a precious son of her own, "me" time comes far and few between ;) But, when I do get some time, I love to curl up with a book and a cup of coffee. That is h.e.a.v.e.n.!

Jenny asked: "What is your favorite thing about being a Mom?" Wow. Do I have to pick just one?! Being a Mom is seriously the best thing I have ever done with my life. I would have to say the "mother/son" connection I have with Lincoln. We really do have a special bond. It's the way he looks at me. He gives no one else that look. It really is special :)

Renata Bowers asked: "How did you get started blogging? I am new to it myself, and you have a lovely, readable style!" First of all, thank you so much for the compliment! About two years ago I joined a "Mommy" message board. Almost all of the members had a blog, so I wanted to be one of the "cool kids" too ;) I am really glad I got into it though because I love love love blogging! I have always loved to write, and this allows me to, well, do just that!

Aislinn asked: "If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?" Honestly, I really have no desire to travel overseas. I have been to Jamaica and Mexico, but I'm pretty much set on just traveling within the states, or Canada...I LOVED Niagara Falls. But, right now if I could travel anywhere, it would be to Disney World, haha. No joke at all. I haven't been in ten years and love that place! I'm a big kid at heart ;)
"Do you ever want to meet any of your fellow bloggers?" If I ever had the opportunity, absolutely. I love meeting new people.

My new favorite thing...

...is cuddling Lincoln in our bed :) Yeah yeah, I know "they" say it's bad and all that, but seriously, I think some good momma/son cuddle time is a good thing! The past two mornings Lincoln has woken much earlier than usual. He normally sleeps until 8-9am (I know, you're jealous!)...but the past two mornings he has woken up at 6:30am. And, this just means he's ready to go back to bed at 8am. So, the past two mornings I have taken advantage of this opportunity and brought him to bed with me for some snuggles :) He is seriously the cuddliest thing e.v.e.r.! And, I cannot get enough of it. He gets ALL excited when he wakes up and sees me lying next to him...melts my heart every time! I think Jared is completely jealous because we bought a summer quilt for our bed last night and he said, "if Lincoln spits up on this, we can get the stain out, right?" I think Daddy wants some Lincoln snuggles in bed too!

Oh, and I completely forgot to post this super cute family pic of us the other day. Isn't it precious?!

Okay, so here's the scoop. I couple of months ago I posted a "Q&A getting to know me post." The purpose was for my readers to get to ask me any questions, and then I in return would answer the questions in a seperate post. Well, that didn't work out so well. I seriously got not one question :::ducks head in embarrassment!::: So, in all honesty, I deleted the post. Now that I have way more readers (101 to be exact!), and I update this thing on a regular basis, I am going to [attempt] to try this again.

So, here we go...ask me whatever you'd like. I will post my answers in another post [or 2, depending how many questions I get], next week. Annnnd go...!!!

Cuteness Overload!

Can I just brag about my sweet boy for a second? He had his 6 month photos taken on Saturday, and he was seriously the happiest baby e.v.e.r.! The photographer said he was the best baby she's ever had...I'm sure she's said this to other people before, but it still made me feel good! His pictures came out absolutely amazing. It was so hard to choose a package...which needless to say, I spent a small fortune. But it was oh-so worth it! She took a ton of pictures, but I will show off a few of my favorites :)
