Swingin' on our porch!

Yup, that's us. Lincoln LOVES being outside, and lucky for us, his Great Grandfather made us a swing to go on our front porch. It really is a beautiful piece of furniture, and something for Lincoln to always remember him by. We have been having some of our bottles out there (when the weather is nice of course). My sweet boy loves our outside time. I'm thinking once it gets nicer out I can bring him out there in his exersaucer and Momma can [maybe] read a book! Hmm...the thought is at least nice! Anyways, here's a shot of Momma and her sweet boy :)

And, here we are again...he loves his fingers ;)

"One more lullabye..."

Lately, those are the words I find myself saying each night while rocking Lincoln to sleep. Every night, around 8pm, I make Lincoln's bottle and take him into his nursery. I dim the lights, put on his favorite lullabye cd, feed him his bottle, and rock him to sleep. It's a routine we've established since he was around 2 months old. Normally he'll pass out right before finishing his entire bottle. I'll rock him for awhile, even though he's sound asleep in my arms. It's our special "Mommy and Lincoln time." I just stare at his precious little face, and can't help but fill up with such love and happiness. I look at his little hands, and his tiny finger that he so tightly has wrapped around mine, and think, "this little hand will be bigger than mine someday." These moments are going by faster than I ever could have imagined. I love seeing my sweet boy grow and discover new things, but at the same time, I miss my tiny little baby. So for now, we rock to our favorite lullabye cd....just one more lullabye, again, and again...

National Infertility Awareness Week

National Infertility Awareness Week is a movement to raise awareness about the disease of infertility which affects 7.3 million Americans. While I personally do not suffer from infertility, I have known many who do...which is why I feel so strongly about bringing awareness to this disease. I feel that although infertility doesn't affect myself, it does affect people I know, therefore, I am affected by infertility. I may not be affected the same way as the person suffering from infertility, but nonetheless, I am affected.

For those who aren't as familiar with infertility, Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system. One third (30%) of infertility can be attributed to male factors, and about one third (30%) can be attributed to female factors. In about 20% of cases infertility is unexplained, and the remaining 10% of infertility is caused by a combination of problems in both partners. Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term after 12 months of trying to conceive.

I think sometimes when people hear that someone is having "fertility issues," they automatically assume it's the female who is having the problem. However, as noted above, this is not always the case. Personally, I feel that regardless who has the fertility problem, the man or the woman, it is their problem, not his or hers.

On a personal note, I think infertility sucks. It seems to happen to the sweetest know, the ones who really deserve a baby. The ones who would make awesome parents. It really bothers me when some irresponsible teenager gets knocked up and then has to face what they consider consequences. In all reality, infertility is just unfair.

So, this week, stop for a second, and think of infertility. Whether it has personally affected you or not, I'm sure you know someone who struggles with infertility. To educate yourself more on this disease, visit .

5 Months

I know I say this each and every month, but "how is my baby 5 months old?!" Seriously! Next month I'll be crying that he's half a year old. Time goes by WAY too fast! This past month Lincoln has been up to lots of new stuff. He now eats solids twice a day, and he LOVES food. Seriously, just gobbles it up! Well, I shouldn't say he likes all food...he gagged on peas, but hey...Momma doesn't like peas either. He also rolled from tummy to back on April 1st [April fools day, how appropriate]! We introduced him to his exersaucer, and it was love at first site. That thing is amazing, and keeps him entertained for at least 30 minutes....which in baby time, is phenomenal.

Anyways, we had our 5 month photo shoot the other day, and he wasn't all that cooperative....

He saw his daddy, and had to shoot him a grin

And then, this happened...this is his poop face, no joke!

Once we changed that stinky bum, we were back in action!

And, here's my favorite :)

Next month we'll be on vacation when Lincoln turns 6 months I'm going to take his 6 month shots on the beach :) My sweet boy is getting so big!

Gorgeous Blogger Award

I have been chosen for yet another award. Thanks to Anne at
, I have been awarded the Gorgeous Blogger Award...which I must say, I think is just adorable! Anyways, Anne's blog is awesome. She is pregnant and will be finding out soon whether she's having a little girl or boy [I think it's a boy, but maybe I'm just biased because of my little man ;)].

The rules for this award go as followed:
* Accept & thank the fellow bloggie who gave this to you
* List 10 things about yourself
* List 5 additional things that you don't like
* Award this to other fellow bloggies
Here we go:
1. I never thought I'd be a stay at home mom. But as soon as Jared and I started talking "babies," I knew I could never put my children in daycare. I love being at home with Lincoln all day, and I am so grateful that we are able to do it.

2. I have never smoked or done any drugs even once. I am very proud of this.
3. I wrote in a journal one year leading up until our wedding and gave it to Jared as a wedding present the night before we were married.
4. I love bubble baths.
5. I love pictures and almost always have my camera with me.
6. I watched my grandfather die of lung cancer when I was 11 years old.
7. I am addicted to General Hospital and have watched it ever since I was a kid. Make fun of me all you want, I don't care!
8. I don't regret anything. Everything I have ever done has gotten me to where I am today, and I am completely happy.
9. I would rather go on a long road trip than fly.
10. Lincoln is my greatest accomplishment. I love him more and more each day. Being a Mommy is amazing :)
1. I hate ignorance. People who are ignorant drive me insane.
2. Bad drivers piss me off....especially those "cool" teenagers who drive like maniacs.
3. Cancer sucks...enough said.
4. Bad spelling irks me.
5. Child molesters, abusers, anyone who hurts children, should just be erased from this planet. It bothers me so much more now that I have a son.
Now for the bloggers I will tag:

Toes, toes, toes!

I'm writing this at 5am because this would be what's occupying my sweet boy in his crib right now. Apparently attempting to eat his toes is just way better than going back to bed. He's been doing this for about a week now, but the other day I was able to catch it on camera :)

Here he is eyeing that delicious foot

"uh caught me!"

Here we go!

Sweet Success!

He seriously cracks me up. Last night he even offered Momma a taste of his toes...he was sharing, so cute! Anyways, it looks like he finally lost the battle of falling asleep...which means Momma is going back to bed!

Thyroid Uptake Scan

It just occurred to me that I didn't update about my Thyroid Uptake Scan I had to have after my Radioactive Iodine Treatment. Well, anyways, it wasn't too huge of a deal...but still not my cup of tea nonetheless. For the scan, they use something called a Gamma Camera. The machine looks like what is pictured. The table is seriously only about 16 inches wide. They raise the table up and place you so you're directly underneath the top of the machine....and then they lower it, so it's just about touching your nose! If you are a claustrophobic person, I'd suggest you strongly medicate yourself for this procedure! The scan last approximately 40 minutes, and you have to remain still the entire time. Not only did I get to enjoy this process once, but I had to go back the following week for ANOTHER scan because they did the first one too soon and there was too much radioactivity still in my body...fabulous.

Anyways, all went well with the scan...all things considered. And hopefully this will be my last bout with thyroid cancer e.v.e.r.!

We recently started Lincoln on solids, and I must say, I think I have a good eater on my hands. Here he is trying out some carrots.

Going for his hand instead!

Contemplating whether he likes them or not...
I think it was a success!!

I am making all of his purees so he can get the best nutrition possible. I don't know if I'm weird or not, but I actually enjoy making him his food. I steam the veggies, then place them into my sweet pink KitchenAid blender, add water to make the consistency I'd like, scoop the puree into ice cube trays and freeze. After they are frozen, I place into freezer bags, and voila!...Lincoln has food :) We are trying out peas tonight...can't wait to see how he likes those!!

New Bathtub!

Welp, our cat Oliver literally ate the drain to Lincoln's infant bathtub! Which meant, we had to break out Lincoln's "big boy" duck bathtub! I originally wasn't going to put him in this until he was sitting unassisted...but thanks to Oliver, we had to test it out sooner. At least it was a success. Lincoln loved loved LOVED it. Here is a video of him kicking around....Daddy was in the tub with him :) video

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

I am so happy to be part of the Ultimate Blog Party this year. I think it's a wonderful way to support the blog community and meet some new bloggers! Now, about me...My name is Kami (pronounced Kaymee). I am a 28 year old stay at home mom to the cutest, sweetest little boy, ever. I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), Type 1. For those who have never heard of OI, it is a brittle bone disorder. Type 1 is the most mild case (thankfully). I have broken 15 bones, and had two major surgeries due to his condition. I don't let it define who I am, but it is part of me. Any children I have will have a 50% chance of inheriting the little man is OI free :)
I started dating my husband, Jared, in February 2005. We fell in love fast. He literally swept me off my feet. Here we are back when we were young and carefree:

He asked me to marry him on Christmas Eve 2005, and we were married May 20, 2007. Here we are happily on our wedding day:
We had our beautiful baby boy, Lincoln James on November 23, 2009. He weighed 8 lbs 13 oz, and was 21 inches long.

We are now a happy little family of three. We will have more children, someday (when Lincoln is around two years old or so). But right now, we are having a blast spoiling our little man to pieces, and enjoying every second our our lives!

There are some great prizes this year. My top three would be:
US39 -Be My Guest certificate ($250 value) for one lucky winner, (2 night stay for a family of four) at any Hilton Garden Inn.Provided by: Hilton Garden Inn
US6 – Hand Stamped Personalized Necklace valued at $48 The Double Stacked A Lot Of Love.Provided by: Kristen’s Custom Creations
US76 – One Sentimental Silver personalized “Silver Sweethearts” necklace. Necklace will be customized with two names or words to be selected by the winner.Provided by: Sentimental Silver Jewelry
If those three were chosen, I'd also love anything to do with children, or mommy related products!
I am looking forward to meeting some new bloggers :)
