I realize I am WAY late to the game with posting about our Fourth of July weekend, but, my computer crashed & I wasn't able to share our festivities with you. We had a VERY busy weekend. Friday night when Jared got home from work, we hopped in the car & drove 2 1/2 hours to my parents house in Rhode Island. My aunt was having a cookout on Saturday with my Mom's side of the family. We had a great day, & Lincoln had fun playing with his big cousins.
After the cookout Saturday night, we fed Lincoln his last bottle, put him in his jammies & headed back home to Connecticut. He was a trooper and slept the entire ride, and went right into his crib when we came home.
On the 4th, we had our annual picnic at Jared's aunt & uncle's house. We made sure Lincoln would be a happy baby for the day and let him sneak in a much needed nap with Daddy before we left :)
The day was great...with a few exceptions. First, Jared was having a conversation with one of his relatives and she actually said, "I wonder what your relatives in the South think of Lincoln's name." Really?! Come on people, it's 2010, get over it! I really hate comments like that, of any kind, but when it concerns my son, it bothers me on a whole other level!
The second disastrous event occurred when Jared's aunt was holding Lincoln. She also had a deviled egg in her hand. Obviously Lincoln was showing interest in the egg because he knows what food is now. She looks at me and says, "Can I give him a bite?" I say, "absolutely not."
And the third and thankfully final disastrous event happened when just seconds later, that same aunt was holding Lincoln, this time with a plate of shrimp. I watch her take his paci out, pick up a piece of shrimp, and say to me, "can I give him a taste?" Are you freaking kidding me!!! Again I tell her "NO," and this time take my baby from her. Why why WHY do people want to feed someone else's child food?! I really don't get it.
Anyways, I don't want this post to end on a sour note, so I will say that despite all that crap, we did manage to have a good day. Lincoln got to play with his cousin, who is exactly one month older than him. We got a ton of good pics :)
Here they are playing. Lincoln is on the left & his cousin Cayden is on the right.
And here they are again. Seriously, too cute for words! These two are going to be trouble together!!!
