Lions and Tigers and BEARS...OH MY!

This morning the Department of Enivironmental Protection came to tag the two twin bear cubs that have a den with their mother on our property. Jared was able to accompany them, along with his father and uncle. He got some great shots, and was even able to hold a little cub! They first tranquilize the mother and then bring the cubs out to tag them. It was quite the lengthy process...he was gone for almost three hours! The twins are a boy and a girl. Here is Jared and his father with the baby girl cub.

Apparently the baby girl was quite active and squirmy. The little boy was so cuddly! I wish I could have been there! This is my father inlaw with both cubs and the mother...don't worry, she's just tranquilized!
And here's one of Jared's uncle...

And one more of Jared cause I think he looks so sweet with that little cub!

The cubs weighed just 6 pounds! The mother weighed 172 pounds! I wonder if we'll be seeing them around this summer!

  1. i want one! you can't get those at build a bear, huh?

  2. Ohmigosh, they are soooo cute!

  3. Oh. my. goodness. SO sweet.

  4. Kaymeee, I am SO jealous!! They are precious!! I'm moving in with you ;)

  5. They are so cute!!! How cool is it that they got to hold them.

  6. So Sweet! I hope they arrived at their new home safely!

  7. Thanks for visiting my blog! Yes, I had RAI treatment in September 2008. For me, the actual treatment was fine, no side effects. I just hated the "glowing green" radioactive state post-treatment when you can't really have contact with anyone, even after discharged from the hospital. Plus, right after treatment, it was a struggle with the fatigue getting my thyroid levels to where they needed to be.

I was originally diagnosed with papillary carcinoma July 14, 2008. Had a total thyroidectomy with neck dissection July 31st with 4/14 lymph nodes in my neck + also for papillary carcinoma.

    RAI Sept 2008.

Thyrogen blood work never got to acceptable levels. Led to an ultrasound which found more cancer January 2009.

Another surgery Jan 15 to remove three more + lymph nodes.

Now, I'm going through follow up testing and if all goes well, I won't have to do RAI again.

Best of luck with your treatment! Let me know if I can help in any way with questions, etc.
